A Historic Sacred Setting

We are particularly delighted to have the opportunity to gather at Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, whose beautiful historic stone church provides a fitting sacred setting for an occasion centred upon Christian faith, chivalry, service and fellowship.

An Investiture is more than a ceremonial gathering.

It is an occasion upon which we reaffirm the principles that unite us: our Christian faith, our commitment to service, our fraternity as Brothers and Sisters in the Temple, and our responsibility to carry the ideals of Christian chivalry into the world in which we live today.

The sacred surroundings of Saint Mary’s will provide an especially appropriate setting in which to welcome new members and recognise those called to further service within the Order.

The revised commencement time of 09:00 hrs will allow the Investiture to be conducted with the dignity and solemnity befitting the occasion while also accommodating the wider programme of the Australasian Convocation.

An Australasian Gathering in Christian Fellowship

The 2026 Australasian Convocation & Investiture will bring together members and friends from across our wider Templar and Christian community.

We look forward to welcoming Knights, Dames, members of the Order, postulants, visiting dignitaries, representatives of kindred chivalric bodies, clergy, families, friends and supporters.

While ceremony forms an important part of the occasion, the Convocation is equally about fellowship.

It provides an opportunity to renew friendships, welcome new Brothers and Sisters, strengthen relationships across jurisdictions and organisations, and reflect upon the responsibilities associated with Christian chivalric service.

It is our hope that those travelling to Brisbane will experience not simply an Investiture, but a genuine gathering of fraternity and friendship.

Ecumenical and Christian in Character

The Investiture Service will remain Christian, ecumenical and non-denominational in character.

The Ordre du Temple de Jérusalem brings together Brothers and Sisters from across the Christian traditions. While our individual expressions of Christian worship and denominational backgrounds may differ, we are united by our common profession of faith in Christ and our shared commitment to Christian service.

Our gathering at Saint Mary’s will reflect that spirit.

We therefore extend a warm welcome to Christians from across the traditions of the Church, together with families, friends, invited guests and those who support the charitable, humanitarian and chivalric work undertaken in the spirit of the Order.

Preparing for the Investiture

Members and guests who have already made arrangements to attend should now update their event information to reflect the new venue and commencement time.

Further information will be circulated as preparations are finalised, including details concerning:

  • arrival and registration;

  • parking and access to the church;

  • robing arrangements;

  • assembly of Knights, Dames and postulants;

  • ceremonial and procession arrangements;

  • requirements for visiting dignitaries and representatives;

  • the Investiture Service;

  • photography and official proceedings; and

  • the wider programme of the 2026 Australasian Convocation.

Members participating formally in the Investiture are asked to pay particular attention to subsequent communications concerning arrival and robing times, which will necessarily be earlier than the public commencement of the Service.

All Are Welcome

Members, families, friends, visiting dignitaries, representatives of kindred organisations and supporters of the Order are warmly invited to join us.

A Message from the Grand Prior

As Grand Prior of Australia, I look forward with great anticipation to welcoming our Brothers and Sisters, distinguished guests, clergy, families and friends to Brisbane for the 2026 Australasian Convocation & Investiture.

Occasions such as this remind us that Christian chivalry must ultimately be measured not by titles, insignia or ceremonial distinction, but by the manner in which we live the principles those things represent.

Faith must lead to action.

Chivalry must lead to honourable conduct.

Fraternity must lead to genuine care for one another.

And our profession of service must lead us towards service of others.

An Investiture therefore marks both an honour and an obligation.

For those entering the Order, it represents the beginning of a journey of Christian, chivalric and charitable service. For those already within our ranks, it provides an opportunity to renew our own commitment to those principles.

For our guests and friends, we hope it will provide an opportunity to experience the fellowship, faith and sense of common purpose that we seek to foster within the Grand Priory of Australia.

Above all, we gather not for our own glorification, but in recognition that whatever good we may accomplish should ultimately be directed towards a purpose greater than ourselves.

We look forward to welcoming you to Saint Mary’s Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point, on Saturday, 7 November 2026, for what we hope will be a memorable and meaningful occasion in the life of the Grand Priory of Australia.

Non Nobis Domine, Non Nobis, Sed Nomini Tuo Da Gloriam.

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy Name give glory.
